Question:
Based on your professional experience, what suggestions would you make for incorporating emotional education into all subjects of the school curriculum? What is its contribution to guidance and school coexistence?
Answer:
Emotional education can be seen as a cross-cutting theme that should be present in all subjects throughout all school years. While it may be in the tutoring subject where it finds the most appropriate space, this is possible only if there is the will and training for it. Important emotional aspects can be included in all subjects. For example, in language (and foreign language) the emotional vocabulary can be studied; in social sciences, the emotional dimension in interpersonal and social relationships can be analyzed; in natural sciences, when studying human anatomy, the emotional brain can be analyzed, etc. Emotional education originates from guidance. Specifically, it comes from the dimension focused on prevention and development guidance. The goal of emotional education is the development of basic life competencies, which are applied in multiple and diverse situations such as making vocational decisions, job searching, facing an exam, preventing anxiety, stress, depression, violence, suicides, school bullying, risky behaviors, drug use, etc.
